CEO of Vision on A Mission and social activist, Wayne Chance, spoke with FC Santa Rosa’s Under 14, Under 16, Under 18 team, and parents today (Saturday 19 May 2012) at the auditorium of Arima North Seconday School. Chance focused on the key isues of conflict and conflict management, peer pressure, the role of dedicated passion and ambition in personal success, the role of parents in child development, and second Life chances.

Chance spoke about his own incarceration as a teenager and the events leading to it with clarity and urgency, and he interacted with his youthful audience prompting answers to his questions and fielding theirs in turn. He thanked FC Santa Rosa for being the first Arima organization to extend an invitation to speak with the youth of his hometown.

FC Santa Rosa will begin the TTFF National Youth League on 26 May with a visit to the Marvin Lee Stadium, CONCACAF Centre of Exellence, in Macoya, where the Baby Cannons (Under 14), Little Canons (Under 16) and Young Cannons (Under 18) will face off with Joe Public FC. The matches will be played at 10AM, 2.00PM and 4.00PM respectively. FC Santa Rosa won the Under 15 and Under 17 divisions in 2011, and fiished third in the Under 13 category.

Vision on A Mission founder, Wayne Chance, will address FC Santa Rosa’s Under 16 and Under 18 players on Saturday 19 May at 10.00AM. Chance established Vision on A Mission after serving an eight year prison sentence. While in prison he studied religion and conducted religious education classes for inmates. He was the first inmate to be ordained a minister of religion while in prison. Following his discharge Chance became a motivational speaker and an activist against crime. He conducts anti-crime programmes and programmes for the rehabilitation of those who are prisoners and ex-prisoners.

Vision on Mission provides a halfway house for ex-prisoners and deportees as well as job placement and other services for ex-prisoners. It provides academic, vocational and other courses as well as counseling to inmates. Vision on A Mission also assists in reconciling offenders with victims and their relatives. The organization conducts a weekly radio programme titled “Restorative Justice” on which Chance and his guests engage in discussions about topical issues of crime, penal reform, politics and social issues.

FC Santa Rosa’s Big Cannons was named the Eastern FA “Team of the Year” for the 2011 season at today’s (Sunday 13 May 2012) EFA Award Ceremony. The event was held in the Nelson Mandela Hall of the CONCACAF Centre of Excellence in Tacarigua. FC Santa Rosa took home the trophies and medals for its runner-up finish in both the League Cup and Emerald Plaza Cup, its first place finish in the EFA Premier Division, and for being named “Team of the Year”.

FC Santa Rosa announces its partnership with Toyota (Trinidad), Limited. Under the agreement between the parties, FC Santa Rosa’s Big Cannons wil carry the Toyota logo on their TTFF Super League match shirt during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Toyota field signage will also feature at Big Cannon matches in the Stadio di Rosa (UTT, O’Meara) during the period. FC Santa Rosa kicks off the 2012 Super League season on Sunday 10 June with an away match against Real Maracas in Maracas-St. Joseph.

Jevaughn Auguste (34″) and David Lezama (48″) scored on either side of the interval to take FC Santa Rosa’s Under 18 team past Pinto United FC in the first round of the Eddie Hart Football League Under 23 Cup today. The match was played in Tacarigua at the Eddie Hart Recreation Ground. The Young Cannons are preparing for the National Youth League competition, which begins on Saturday 26 May.

FC Santa Rosa continued to strengthen the Big Cannon squad this week with the the addition of three new players ahead of the 10 June kick-off to the 2012 TTFF Super League. Forward Kendall Sealy, and midfielders Richard “Animal” Inniss and Jeremy “Fifty Cent” McMeo signed with Santa Rosa on Tuesday and are already participating in pre-season training. Sealy is a strong and skillful forward with a eye for goal, while Inniss and McMeo are hard-working, ball handlers who will help to organize the Big Cannons midfield.

Santa Rosa meets Malabar FC on 20 May in the first match of of an exhibition tournament for the Vernon Bain Challenge Cup, which opens the Eastern FA 2012 season. The other teams in the tournament are Maloney FC and WASA FC. The Big Cannons won the 2011 edition of the tournament.

Attacking midfielder Simba Aberdeen has signed with FC Santa Rosa ahead of the 2012 TTFF Super League season, which begins on Sunday 10 June. Simba transfers from 2011 Super League champions Joe Public FC and is participating in pre-season training. He is expected to play a major role in the Big Cannons attack this season. Santa Rosa opens the season with a visit to Real Maracas in Maracas-St. Joseph.

FC Santa Rosa will play its first match in the TTFF Super League on Sunday 17 June 2012. After claiming the 2011-2012 Eastern FA Premier Division title in February 2012, Santa Rosa participated in the TTFF’s Champion of Champions tournament and won promotion to the national league on 14 March 2012. On opening day the Big Cannons will travel to Maracas-St. Joseph to take on Real Maracas at 4.00PM.

Big Cannons pre-season training begins on Monday 30 April 2012.

David Prince scored a 60th minute penalty to earn FCSanta Rosa’s Under 18 team a deserved 1:1 draw against RSSSR in the Eddie Hart Under 23 pre-season tournament today (Satudray 14 April). The Young Cannons fell behind to a counter-attack goal in the 20th minute but fought back well to earn a point. On Sunday 22 April Santa Rosa will face Alcons FC in the second round of matches.
